Remarks: The teardrop goby is a larger hillstream species with bright blue eyes and two broad orange bands behind their gill plate and just before the tail. They have care very similar to gobies in the genus Stiphodon in that they require water conditions similar to the rapids they are native to with very clean, clear, oxygen-rich, and fast flowing water. Where they differ, however, is that the teardrop goby comes from more shaded areas with less algae causing them to be more carnivorous. In the aquarium, they typically will need to be fed frozen or live foods but some will learn to eat prepared foods. Frequently they develop very outgoing personalities and become very personable.
