Remarks: The Altum Angelfish is often considered to be the most coveted species of angelfish. With their large size, vibrant colors, and difficulty in regards to care and breeding it is easy to see why. They are known to fair best when kept in warm, soft, acidic blackwater setups that mimic their natural habitat. This particular locality is from the Rio Vichada and possess beautiful red and yellow coloration on their fins that should only intensify as they grow if kept in the proper conditions.
Angelfish do best when housed in South American community setups. Pairs may act aggressively when spawning, but the species is typically peaceful overall. Provide them with plenty of tall decorations such as driftwood and sword plants to swim through and use as spawning surfaces.
