Remarks: Thorichthys aureus "Blue" share a common ancestor with Firemouths, one of the most popular cichlids in the world. You can treat them the same as you would a Firemouth - a 40-gallon tank or larger will suffice for a pair or small group. They can be kept with small or medium Central American cichlids as well as peaceful South American cichlids. Livebearers such as swordtails make for excellent dithers in a breeding tank.
