Remarks: The Blue Flame Paradise Gourami (Macropodus opercularis) are from southeast Asia and prefer slower moving waters. These gouramis are aggressive and nip fish with long fins so they should only be kept with fast-moving, short-finned species such as larger danios.
Both males and females have color, but males will have much more color when they mature. This particular strain of paradise gourami lack stripes and instead have red bodies with long, blue or white fins. Occasionally they develop a smokey gray/black edge to their anal fins making their color pop even more.
